TUESDAY 5th September 1995 (morning)

An Introduction to Z

John Turner (Staffordshire University, UK)

This tutorial is aimed at people with little or no experience of using Z, and will provide an introduction to the subject. It will start from the beginning by describing the system development problems Z can help address. It will go on to describe the important parts of the Z notation, show how these can be used to model systems, and finish by showing how these models can, in turn, be implemented.

Participants will need no previous experience of Z to be able to benefit from this tutorial.

John Turner is a Senior Lecturer in Software Enginnering at Staffordshire University. He has taught Z to over 1500 people and has co-authored a book, ``Z: A Beginner's Guide", on which this tutorial is based.
